The near future: technology outlook for the rest of the decade

Technology next 10 years

Over the past two and a half centuries, humankind has experienced three industrial revolutions. After each one, society’s lifestyle and worldview have changed dramatically. Scientists and futurologists regularly make possible plans for the development of technology in the coming years, analyzing the likely changes in the behaviour of people. The current decade promises to be bright and full of innovations, let’s take a closer look at what experts have predicted until 2030.

2022
One of the symptoms of the next industrial revolution is the move to renewable energy sources. This is evidenced, among other things, by a dramatic increase in the share of electric cars on the car market. Norway is threatening to completely switch to electric cars as early as 2022. It is not profitable to buy a new internal combustion engine iron horse in this country.

2023
The pandemic has caused a surge of interest in digital medicine. Patient records and prescriptions are becoming electronic. Online consultations with doctors can be obtained anywhere in the world without geolocation. One of the most sought-after segments is remote health monitoring. The pace of growth in this area is impressive, in 2023 its global value will reach $16 billion.

2024
Research company Gartner informs about strengthening trend of digital currencies usage. Major brands are already investing in making it easier to improve payment and exchange technology. There is reason to believe that investing, keeping savings and realising payments will go virtual and every fifth big company in 2024 will move to digital currencies.

Planned Technology Development

2025
The tandem of artificial intelligence and the internet of things is making life even easier for ordinary users. More and more often, wishes will be predicted by smart assistants before they can be formulated. According to Huawei research, adoption rate of personal technological assistants will grow to 90% in 2025 and home robots will amount to 14%.

2026
ABI Research predicts a dramatic shift of 5G stations to the 6GHz band: 9 out of 10 stations will switch to this frequency by 2026. This will provide better coverage with sufficient bandwidth. The consequence will be an increase in the supply of smartphones supporting the right band, up to 600 million gadgets.

2027
Virtual reality brings new emotions and experiences to ordinary people’s lives, and provides familiar sensations where before they could not be felt. 2027 may make these technologies so ingrained and familiar to the average person that visual, tactile and tactile contact with the drawn elements will make it much more difficult to separate the virtual from the real.

2028
The bitcoin exchange rate sometimes falls, but then invariably rises and sets new records. Analysts predict that in 2028 the maximum value of this currency will jump to $800 thousand and the annual average will be about $692 thousand.

2029
Futurologist Raymond Kurzweil suggests that 2029 will bring immortality to humanity. Digital technology will allow people to create smart homes on a mass scale with assistants controlled by artificial intelligence. Water can be recycled via a closed cycle and the sun’s energy can be stored through transparent windows.

2030
Japan does not ponder having colonies on Mars in the next few years. Japan prefers to concentrate on more mundane plans, which are no less impressive in terms of style. Local engineers promise a quantum computer that needs no cooling at all by 2030. This, and other ambitious ideas from scientists and futurists around the world, promise a very exciting decade with many technological breakthroughs for ordinary people.
